Stewart (ISN) – A two-run double by Noah Doorschot in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 9-9 tie and vaulted the Carnarvon Trappers to a 13-10 win over the Triangle Jays in the 2013 Greater Victoria Baseball Association (GVBA) Pee Wee "A" Championship game Thursday night at Carnarvon Park in Victoria.
The Trappers had to overcome an early 7-2 deficit that was built by the Jays thanks in part to a pair of doubles from Jason Thorrisen – a 2-RBI effort in the first inning and another in the top of the third – and the strong starting pitching of Jayden Wakeham, who allowed just a pair of runs while striking out four over the first two innings.

The Trappers would bounce back for a pair of runs off Wakeham in the bottom of the third, and then would jump into a 9-7 lead with a five-run fourth inning highlighted by hits from Brandon Thom, Freeman Taylor, Cole Mayhew and an inning ending 2-RBI single from Hayden Wilcox (there is a 5-run limit per inning in Pee Wee baseball).

In the top of the fifth inning, the Jays would get to Carnarvon reliever Doorschot – who had come on in relief of starter Mayhew in the fourth – for a pair of runs, thanks in part to a single by Ethan Emile and a double from Gavin Duncan. The Trappers would not respond and the game headed to the sixth inning tied 9-9.

The Jays would threaten again in the top of the sixth, as the first two batters were walked by Doorschot, but the Trapper's hurler would then settle down, striking out the next three batters to get out of the inning unscathed.
In the bottom of the sixth, Triangle pitcher Emile, who had come on in relief of Gavin Duncan in the bottom of the fifth inning, found himself in trouble, walking the bottom two batters in the Trappers lineup. That set the stage for Doorschot, whose double cashed both those runners and gave the Trappers a 11-9 lead.

Two more singles by Mayhew and Nick Carson resulted in another pair of runs and the Trappers took a 13-9 lead into the final frame.
In the top of the seventh, Triangle's Emile would be walked, reaching base for the fourth time in the game, and would come around to score (also his fourth run of the game) after an RBI single by Duncan.

After an out and a walk, the Jays Thorrisen – already with two doubles – came to the plate and laced a hard ground ball to third, where it was picked up on a nice play by the third baseman for the force out, leaving the game in the hands of the next batter Spencer Enns.

Enns would battle Doorschot hard and on a 2-2 count would launch a deep fly ball to centre field where it looked like it would drop in to keep the inning going, however a great running catch by the Trappers Jack Carson would keep that from happening and give the Trappers the exciting 13-10 win.

Offensively for the Trappers, Mayhew would lead the way with three hits and three runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Doorschot had a pair of doubles and scored a pair of runs, while Taylor scored three runs and Wilcox would quietly notch four RBIs on the day with a pair of singles. Also of note would be Thom and Owen Jacques who would score a pair of runs each, making for significant contributions from the bottom of the Trappers order.

For the Jays, Emile's 3 walks and a hit with four runs scored would lead the way, followed by Thorrisen's two doubles and pair of runs scored. Chris Plaja would also reach base three times with a single and two walks, while Gavin Duncan would have a pair of hits and a run scored.
